Override is almost here: every sprite fact, leak and rumor before Season 4
A new sprite generation, the Sprite Garden, a Dust reset, Mythic Sprite Hours, and the Gaming Legends leaks — what collectors need to know before August 20.
A new generation of sprites arrives next week. Here's everything sprite collectors need to know going into Chapter 7 Season 4: Override — what Epic has confirmed, what's leaked, and what's still just gossip. Last updated August 14.
The dates that matter
- Saturday, August 15, 2:00 PM ET — the "Unstable" Story Moment at the Zero Point Stabilizer, the bridge from Runners into Override. Expect it to be short; be in a match early (damage at the Stabilizer switches off just before it starts).
- Saturday, August 15 — Mythic Sprite Hours, two windows: 2–4 PM ET and 9–11 PM ET. Boosted Mythic spawn rates with an extra boost for Grim and Zero Point, everyone starts with Seven Sliders and a Self-Revive, and extracting a sprite fully heals you. This is the last big catch-up window of the season.
- Tuesday–Wednesday, August 19–20 — Runners ends, with downtime overnight and Override launching Thursday, August 20. Epic hasn't posted the exact hour yet; the countdown on our home page tracks the moment the current season closes out.
Confirmed: sprites are back, and bigger
Epic has confirmed that Override brings a whole new generation of sprites to collect and master, with new powers and new variants, quality-of-life improvements, and "new ways to discover Sprites in (and out of) your games."
Also confirmed:
- The Sprite Garden — a new island hub where you can play with your collected sprites, visit friends' sanctuaries, and show off your collection. Your Runners-generation sprites are immortalized there, and they unlock styles for the Sprite Mastery Pod back bling and Guardian outfit.
- The Runners generation retires when the season ends. Epic says past generations "may return down the line" — but after next Wednesday, today's sprites are off the board. If your collection has holes, this weekend's Mythic Hours are the time.
- Sprite Dust and Gizmos reset at season end. Hoarding buys you nothing — spend your Dust before the 19th.
- The first five Season 4 sprites are Design-A-Sprite contest winners, picked from over 20,000 entries: Bullet, Dumpster Dive, Honey, Pond, and X-Ray. They arrive mid-season, not at launch — so expect the launch roster to be full of surprises Epic hasn't shown yet.
Leaked: the Gaming Legends season
None of this is officially announced, but established leakers have found strong evidence of a games-themed collab season:
- Sonic the Hedgehog (expected in the Battle Pass, with a leaked Green Hill–style location complete with a runnable loop and Gold Rings), plus Dr. Eggman
- Joker from Persona 5, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Tetris (likely as cosmetics or gameplay rather than a skin)
- Kingdom Hearts — a leaked Gummi Ship vehicle, expected early in the season; no Sora outfit has surfaced yet
Rumors: treat with salt
Names floating around with far less behind them: Crash Bandicoot, Minecraft, Vampire Survivors, Marvel Tokon, and a Spider-Man tie-in. Fun to imagine; nothing solid.
No specific new-generation sprite list has leaked yet — no names, no variant types. Epic's "new powers and variants" is the only official signal, which means launch day is going to be a genuine reveal. The moment the new sprites are known, they'll be here on Quackadex with the full catalog, day one.
What this means for your collection
Your Quackadex collection doesn't go anywhere. When Override lands, the site fills with the new generation and everyone starts the new hunt at 0% — and your Runners collection stays browsable in the season time machine, exactly as you finished it. Sprites you own from a retired generation still count for you; that's how it should be.
Quack on — and good luck at the Stabilizer on Saturday. 🦆
Track your sprite collection
Quackadex records what you own and what you've mastered across every sprite and variant, and works out what's left. Open the tracker — free, no download.
