Fortnite Sprite Patch Timeline — Chapter 7 Season 3 "Runners"

Updated 3 August 2026 · 6 min read

Four numbered updates (v41.00, v41.10, v41.20, v41.30), five Thursday variant drops and one Sprite Dust hotfix — what each changed, dated.

Chapter 7 Season 3 has shipped four numbered updates that touched Sprites — v41.00 on 6 June 2026, v41.10 on 25 June, v41.20 on 16 July and v41.30 on 30 July — plus five Thursday variant drops between them and a server-side hotfix on 24 July that cut Sprite Dust resummon costs. Two of those changes were accidents Epic reversed.

v41.00 — 6 June

The season launched with Sprites as its central mechanic rather than a side collection. Epic's v41.00 notes describe the loop in a sentence: find a Sprite in a match, reach an Extraction Site, defend the pickup while the timer runs, and it is banked to your collection for future matches. Get eliminated first and it is left on the ground for whoever finds it.

Gold was the only special variant at launch. Everything else in the current grid arrived later.

Getting a sprite to max level is no easy feat, so we recommend attempting it across multiple runs.

Epic Games, v41.00 update notes

v41.10 — 25 June

The only numbered update that primarily added Sprites rather than changing rules. Five new Sprites entered the pool, and Epic documented where Portable Extractors come from — a daily quest for extracting ten Sprites, escalating Mastery Monday rewards at 10/15/20 extractions, and several tiers of the Sprite Mastery track.

v41.20 — 16 July

No new variant, and the most consequential patch of the season for collection speed. Epic changed what a Sprite Chest can produce:

The third bullet is the one people misread. Rare Sprites did not become rarer overall — the Normal versions did, because the chest is now more likely to hand you a Gold or Gummy of the same Sprite than a plain one.

v41.30 — 30 July

Delivered the Quack variant, which is unlike every other variant on this page: it is not a chest roll at all. Quack is earned through Sprite Mastery, so it is gated by effort rather than luck, and it currently exists on only four Sprites.

The same update is where Ironmouse appeared, briefly.

The Thursday variant drops

Every Thursday adds a Sprite or a variant, and the variant drops are the ones that reshape the grid. Five have landed this season.

ThursdayVariantBonus
11 JuneGummy+10% Sprite Dust on extraction
18 JuneGalaxy30% more ammo when looting
9 JulyHolofoilHigher chance to find variant Sprites
23 JulyCubeOverdrive while caught in the Storm
30 JulyQuackShares 50% of its progress with your other Sprites

Variants are added per Sprite, not to the whole roster at once. Gold, Gummy and Galaxy each cover twenty Sprites in our catalog; Holofoil twelve; Cube nine; Quack four. A later variant is therefore scarcer in practice regardless of drop rates — fewer Sprites carry it and it has had fewer weeks in circulation.

The 24 July Sprite Dust hotfix

It shipped without a client patch, which matters: the costs are tuned server-side and can change again at any time with no version number attached. They are not in the game files, so every number in a resummon table, including ours, is either observed in-game or inferred.

Resummon cost tracks the Sprite's base rarity, not the variant's. Every variant of a Rare Sprite costs the same 2,700 Dust.

Ironmouse: released early, then pulled

Ironmouse shipped with the 30 July update and was collectable for a matter of hours. Epic then disabled the Sprite and removed it from the collections of the players who had extracted it.

That makes it a different category from an unreleased Sprite. Nobody was ever supposed to have a Gem; people genuinely, legitimately had an Ironmouse. Quackadex keeps it in the catalog flagged as unreleased and leaked, so it counts toward completion for the accounts that hold one and for nobody else.

Gem Llama shipped ahead of the other Gems

Gems are the season's unreleased variant tier — with one exception. Gem Llama is live in-game and obtainable; the remaining Gem variants are not.

Some players obtained other Gems early through the Sprite Hunt rift anomaly. Epic's support article confirms those Sprites were not yet released and were temporarily disabled — unable to enter a match or be resummoned — pending the variant's release. The Gem Grim was disabled in the same round as Ironmouse.

What is confirmed and what is not

The mechanical claims above — the extraction loop, Portable Extractor sources, the v41.20 chest change, variant bonuses and the Mythic Dust reduction — come from Epic's own update notes, event posts and support articles.

These are not Epic-announced and are reported only: Ironmouse's return date, when the remaining Gem variants release, whether the weekly Thursday cadence continues, and when the season ends. Epic has published nothing on any of them. Anyone giving you a date for the next Gem drop is guessing.
