Sprite Spree Week, straight from Epic: the official day-by-day and what the roundups missed
Epic's official post confirms the Sprite Spree Week schedule (Aug 14-20), adds per-day equip effects, and extends Gem Hours through the end of the season. What it says and what to do with it.
Epic has put the last week of Runners in writing. The official "What's New in Fortnite: Runners | August 14" post lays out Sprite Spree Week day by day, straight from the Communities Team, and it settles a few things the outlet writeups had slightly wrong. Here is what it says, what is new in it, and what it means if you still have gaps to fill before August 20.

It already started
The post went up at 8:15 PM ET on Thursday, August 14, and its first line is "Sprite Spree Week starts now!" Not August 15. A couple of replies on the thread are confused about that ("I thought you said it starts August 15th??"), and fair enough, since the day-by-day art starts on the 15th. Read it this way: the all-week bonuses were live from Thursday night, and the featured-variant days run Saturday through Wednesday.
The all-week bonuses, confirmed
For the rest of Chapter 7 Season 3, all four are on at once:
- Sprites level up twice as fast.
- Summoning an extracted Sprite costs zero Sprite Dust.
- Campfires level Sprites faster.
- Daily Quests hand out a Lucky Locator Gizmo.
There are also new Sprite Spree quests that pay out a Sprite, or Sprite Dust, on completion.
The free resummon is the one that changes behaviour. One reply on the thread says it best: "yay i can finaly summon Burnt Peanut back!" If you dismissed something weeks ago to save Dust, this is the week it comes back for nothing. Our free resummons piece has the mastery angle on that.
The featured days, with the part outlets skipped
Every featured day runs 24 hours from 9 AM ET (1 PM UTC). What the outlet roundups mostly left out is that three of the four days come with an equip effect on top of the spawn boost:
| Day | Featured | Extra while equipped |
|---|---|---|
| Sun Aug 16 | Galaxy | - |
| Mon Aug 17 | Holofoil | helps you find even more rare Sprites |
| Tue Aug 18 | Cube | Overdrive effect while in the Storm |
| Wed Aug 19 | Gem | 30% less fall damage |
Two things worth flagging.
Gem Hours do not end after 24 hours. Epic's wording is "from August 19 at 9 AM ET through the end of the Season." So Gem spawns stay boosted right into the Season 4 flip on the 20th. If Gems are your last holdouts (they usually are), that is a day and a half, not a day.
Weekdays. August 16 is a Sunday and August 19 is a Wednesday. We had those two labelled wrong in our earlier Spree Week piece and have corrected it there.
Also: nothing for Gummy or Gold. Someone asked in the replies and there is no answer in the post. If you are short on either, this week's help is the double XP and the free resummons, not a spawn boost.
What to do with it
Check your own dex first and match the days to your gaps. Galaxy Sunday, Holo Monday, Cube Tuesday, Gem Wednesday and onward. Then, whatever you pull, get it to Mastery: mastered Sprites are account-permanent, and Sprites are a Season 3 feature with no promise attached to what happens after Thursday.
As for what comes after Gem Hours, Epic's answer is a glitched-out "we'll see you on August 20."
