What Happens to Your Sprite Collection When the Season Ends?
Epic has published nothing about Sprite collections carrying over. It has confirmed, three times, that Gizmos expire when Chapter 7 Season 3 ends.
Epic has published nothing about whether your Sprite collection carries into the next season. That is the honest answer, and no amount of confident coverage elsewhere changes it. What Epic has confirmed — in three separate sets of update notes — is narrower and constantly confused with it: every Gizmo earned during Chapter 7 Season 3 expires when the season ends. Those are two different questions with two very different levels of evidence.
Has Epic said whether Sprite collections carry over?
No. We have read the v41.00, v41.10, v41.20 and v41.30 update notes and found no statement in either direction — not that collections persist, not that they are wiped, not that they convert into something else.
Epic was perfectly willing to state the Gizmo rule plainly, in the same documents, more than once. A studio that documents one expiry and stays silent on the other has either not decided or not announced — and neither is something a third party can read off.
What is actually confirmed, and what is only reported?
| Claim | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Gizmos earned this season expire when the season ends | Confirmed | Epic, v41.00 / v41.20 / v41.30 notes |
| Gizmo inventory persists for the rest of the season | Confirmed | Epic, v41.00 notes |
| Extracted Sprites bank to your Collection "for use in future matches" | Confirmed | Epic, v41.00 notes |
| Mastered Sprites unlock a Sprite Mastery Pod style that is "forever unlocked" | Confirmed | Epic, v41.00 notes |
| The season's exact end date and time | Not published | Epic points to an in-game timer |
| Sprite collections do not carry into the next season | Reported | Games media only |
| Sprite collections do carry over | Reported | Traced to a Discord notification |
Everything in the top half of that table is quotable from Epic. Everything in the bottom half is somebody's inference, however reasonable it sounds.
What exactly did Epic say about Gizmos?
This part is not ambiguous. From the v41.00 notes:
Your Gizmo inventory will persist all season-long, but will expire when the season ends, though, so be sure to use 'em!
The v41.20 notes repeat it — "Gizmos expire at the end of the current Season - be sure to use them!" — and v41.30 states it again: "All Gizmos earned during Chapter 7 Season 3 will expire when the Season ends."
When does Chapter 7 Season 3 actually end?
Epic has not published a date in any update notes we can find. What it published instead was a method: v41.30 tells players they can "see exactly when by checking the expiration timer on the Battle Royale mode selection screen."
Secondary coverage puts the end at 19 or 20 August 2026, and the sources disagree. Some of that is almost certainly timezone drift — a rollover late on the 19th ET reads as the 20th across most of Europe.
Where did the "Sprites carry over" claim come from?
The circulating counter-claim — that collections continue into the next season — was reportedly traced to an automated Discord notification rather than an Epic announcement. A bot repeating a template is not a statement of policy.
The opposite claim is no better sourced. Several games outlets state flatly that collections do not carry over. That is a plausible read of a seasonal mode, but none cite an Epic statement, because there isn't one to cite.
Does Epic's own wording hint either way?
A little, and it cuts in both directions, which is why it settles nothing.
Epic describes extraction as banking a Sprite "to your Collection for use in future matches". Future matches, not future seasons — that is the language of within-season persistence, and reading a cross-season guarantee into it is reading in something that isn't there.
Against that, Epic says a mastered Sprite's Sprite Mastery Pod style is "forever unlocked". But that is a claim about a Back Bling cosmetic in your locker, which is a different kind of item from a seasonal-mode collectible. Cosmetics surviving does not mean the collection behind them does.
What should you do before the season ends?
- Spend every Gizmo. This is the only part that is confirmed, and the deadline is real.
- Prioritise Sprites you don't have. A Lucky Locator guarantees a chest with an uncollected Sprite; that is the highest-value use of the remaining time either way.
- Record what you own now. Whatever Epic does, a record of what you had is something you keep. That is what a tracker is for.
- Don't panic-grind on a rumour. Nobody has told you the collection is going away.
The short version
- Epic has said nothing about collections carrying over. That is the finding, not a gap in our research.
- Epic has said three times that Gizmos expire at season end. Use them.
- The end date is not first-party; reports say 19–20 August 2026. Trust the in-game timer.
- Both viral claims about collections are unsourced. Treat any site stating either as fact with suspicion.
We will update this page the moment Epic publishes something. Until then, "nobody knows" is the accurate answer, and we would rather print that than guess well.
