Sign in with Epic Games: verified usernames on the trading board
Link your Epic account (or sign up with it) and your Epic username gets a verified check on every trade listing, offer and comment. Here's how it works and what we store.
You can now sign in to Quackadex with your Epic Games account, and if you already have an account here you can link it. Either way you get a green verified check next to your Epic username on the trading board, in offers and in comments - proof that the name really is yours, not something typed into a box.
What "verified" actually means
Trading on Quackadex has always run on Epic usernames: you list what you have, someone offers, you add each other in Fortnite and finish the trade there. The weak link was the name itself. Anyone could type any username, and there was no way to tell a typo from an impersonation.
A verified name is one that came from an Epic sign-in. Epic vouched for it, we captured it, and it locks: you can't edit it in Account settings, and if you rename on Epic's side it updates by itself the next time you sign in with Epic. Trade partners see a small green check beside it wherever the name shows.
That's the whole point. If someone on the board has the check, the name you're about to add in Fortnite is the account they signed in with.
Existing account: link it
- Open Account settings from the account menu (top right).
- Under "Epic username", hit Link my Epic account.
- Approve on Epic's page. You land back here, linked, name verified.
From then on "Continue with Epic Games" on the sign-in screen drops you straight into your existing account. Email and password still work too - linking adds a door, it doesn't close one.
Changed your mind? Unlink my Epic account is right underneath. It removes the check and Epic sign-in, and you're back to email login. Nothing else about your account changes.
New account: Epic first
Sign-up now leads with Continue with Epic Games. Date of birth, then Epic, then one field - an email address - and you're done. Your Epic name becomes your display name here, already verified, and there's no password to invent because you'll sign in with Epic. Prefer the old way? "or sign up with email" is still right there.
Why the email? Epic doesn't hand out email addresses to third-party sites, and account service mail (verification, security notices) has to reach you somewhere. That's the only reason it's asked for.
Privacy, briefly
We store the identifier and the display name Epic gives us, nothing else from your Epic account. Your Epic username is shown only to signed-in players and only on trade surfaces, and the "Hide my Epic username from other players" switch in Account settings still applies to verified names. The privacy policy has the full wording, and it was updated the day this shipped.
If you're already trading here, link your account. It takes about ten seconds and it makes every offer you post easier to trust.
