v42.10 hits Thursday, September 3 at 7 AM ET (4 AM PT), and it is the first real content drop since Override launched three weeks ago. Downtime starts a little earlier while matchmaking gets cut off. Here is what Epic has actually confirmed is in the patch, separated from what is still a leak.

Three new Sprites, and one of them has a story

Two of the three are Design-a-Sprite contest winners from back in Chapter 7 Season 3:

The interesting detail is Onigiri, not X-Ray. Enorull's original contest-winning design was a Bullet Sprite. Epic swapped it for the rice ball at some point between the contest and the ship date, and neither the contest rules nor the update post explain why. Contest winners usually ship exactly as submitted, so a mid-development redesign is worth noting even without an official reason attached.

None of the three sync into our catalog until they actually exist in the game files, which means after Thursday's downtime, not before. Browse the full catalog once that happens, or come back here - we will have them tracked within hours of the patch going live.

Two Match Overrides join the rotation

Match Overrides are the season's rule-modifier system, and v42.10 adds two:

Neither is confirmed as a permanent addition versus a rotating one-off. Override's whole pitch this season is variety, so expect these to cycle in and out rather than staying on all the time.

Loot Hacks add three Sprite-Dust-gated weapons

Loot Hacks are the temporary advantage system tied to Sprite Dust spend, and three new weapons join the pool: Holo Twister Assault Rifle, Deadeye Assault Rifle, and Wrecker Revolver. Epic's own post is explicit that these sit behind the Loot Hack system specifically, not the general loot pool - so don't expect to find one in a normal chest. Two supporting Loot Hacks, Rocket Ram and Gold Banana, plus a Tracking Visor, round out the patch's gameplay additions.

What's confirmed, what isn't

The patch version, the Thursday downtime window, and the three Sprites are all from Epic's own update post, not a leak - Vice's writeup quotes Epic's own wording on the Match Overrides and Loot Hack weapons too. What is still unconfirmed: the Knight Sprite's actual ability, and whether Prop Hunt and Big Heads are permanent or limited-time. Epic's own pre-release notes on the Unreal Engine developer forums already list two known issues with fixes targeted for v42.20 on September 17 - so the season's next patch date is locked in before this one has even shipped.

If you have been holding Sprite Dust for something, this is a reasonable patch to spend it on once the Loot Hack weapons are live and priced. Check the trade board if you would rather swap for what you actually want.
