v42.40 Sprite Briefing: Honey, Five New Quack Tiers and What Is Still Unnamed
Everything new for Sprites in Fortnite v42.40: the Honey Sprite and its numbers, five Season 4 Quack variants, an unnamed Sprite, the Obsession Sprite and what carries over.
Status - Oct 15, 2026, early morning ET: v42.40 is the last big update of Chapter 7 Season 4, not a new season. Every claim below is labeled confirmed, reported or rumor, and where we could not read a number or a name we say so instead of guessing. This page gets updated as servers come back.

Two Sprites were promised for October 15. We can tell you a lot about one of them, and the other is a name and a description so far. Beyond that, five Season 4 Sprites are getting a Quack tier, and there is one more new Sprite tile that nobody has named.
Every entry is below, then the map, then what changed in how Sprites work, then what carries over.
1. The new Sprites
Honey Sprite

- What it is: the fifth Design-a-Sprite contest winner, after Pond, X-Ray, Onigiri and Dumpster Dive. Community creator Conejito_sam is credited with the design by Fortnite Underground, as relayed by AI Arena Pro. Reported.
- Power: Epic's schedule, as quoted by Fortnite News, says that when an enemy damages you, it sends bees after them. Confirmed wording.
- The numbers: at level 1 the bees tick for 5 damage on players and 5 on the environment. At max level that becomes 10 on players and 15 on the environment. The cooldown drops from 15 seconds to 10, and the spawn chance climbs from 10% to 30%. The swarm radius is small and does not scale.
- Our read: a spawn chance means it does not fire on every hit. At best this is a 30% proc with a small cloud, so it is a tiebreaker in a fight, not a wall. Fine, not scary.
- Variants: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Hacker, Bounty Hunter and Trick or Treat versions exist. No Quack version.
- Day one or later: reported for October 15 with v42.40. Whether the Gold and later tiers open at once is not stated anywhere.
The unnamed cardboard Sprite

An orange, crumpled-cardboard character with a sad face. It is real Sprite art, not a placeholder, and no outlet has named it. We are not going to hand it a name, because a name on this site is permanent.
- Power, from the numbers: two parts. A shockwave that hits for 10 damage at level 1 and 20 at max, in a 500 unit radius, with heavy knockback and a cooldown that falls from 18 seconds to 10. And a mark that lasts 20 seconds and shows on the map across a very wide tracking radius.
- Is it the Obsession Sprite? Probably not. The Obsession Sprite is described as helping you find and collect other Sprites, and a shockwave plus a map mark does not read like that. We call this open.
- Variants: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Hacker, Bounty Hunter and Trick or Treat versions.
- Day one or later: unknown, with no announcement. Treat it as staged until it shows up in a match.
Obsession Sprite
- What it is: the Sprite that arrives with the Obsession collab. Reported by Fortnite News and Beebom: One Wish Willow helps you find and collect other Sprites.
- Art, numbers, variants: none we can show you yet. We have nothing on its tile or its values and we will not guess.
- Our position: if it really finds other Sprites, it jumps to the top of the farming list for the last stretch of the season. That is a big if until it is in a match.
- Day one or later: reported for October 15.
Quack tier on five Season 4 Sprites
Season 3 Sprites got Quack versions earlier this year: Water, Earth, Fire and Zero Point. Now five Season 4 Sprites have Quack art too, and each gets its own entry.
Quack on the Season 3 Sprites carries one bonus: whenever the Sprite earns progress, every other Sprite in your match inventory gets an extra 50% of it. We expect the same here because it is the same variant type, but nobody has confirmed it for these five.
Day one or later, for all five: not announced. Epic has said nothing about Quack on Season 4 Sprites, so file them as "not obtainable until someone logs one".

Bushranger Quack. Base power: spawns a Bush on you after a delay, with a second one after an elimination at max level. More on the Bushranger page.

Adventurer Quack. Base power: upgrades a random item in your inventory per level. See the Adventurer page.

Jonesy Quack. Base power: recovers Health or Shield after you take damage, on a delay. See the Jonesy page.

Klombo Quack. Base power: grants a random item per level, and only levels up from consumables that restore Health or Shield. See the Klombo page.

Spooky Dash Quack. Base power: press jump while airborne to Phase Dash through certain objects, including player-built structures, holding 3 charges. The base Sprite is Mythic, so expect this one to be the rarest of the five. See the Spooky Dash page.

Is anything missing?
Honey, the cardboard Sprite, the Obsession Sprite and the five Quack tiles are everything new we know of for this update, and each is listed. If more turns up in the first hours after servers return, it goes at the top of this page.
2. Where to find them
Short version: nothing new on the map.
- Reported: Beebom and AI Arena Pro both expect no major map changes, because the Fortnitemares changes arrived on October 1.
- Rumor: a storm above Geno's Machine keeps growing and may open a portal. Both outlets mention it. Nobody has shown a new location behind it.
- For Sprite hunters: no new POI has been reported, so there are no new chest or shrine spots to give you. The new Sprites look like ordinary chest and extraction drops, so the current routes still apply.
The predecessor is our farming routes guide. We will update it if a portal or a new location shows up. Until then Where to find Sprites is the reference.
3. The nuances
- Six new Loot Hacks and at least three more Match Overrides. Reported by Beebom, details unconfirmed.
- Bug fixes in the early notes: Weak Points missing on destructibles on Switch 2, Shield Potion glow lasting a whole match. Nothing there touches Sprites.
- Dust and gizmo economy: no change reported, and we will not say otherwise without a source.
- Our position on Quack: the shared-progress bonus is the best idea in the Sprite system, so more of it is good. A pile of extra chase tiles with no stated way to get them is the bad part. If these are low-odds chest drops it is more grind on a collection that is already long.
- Our position on Honey: a contest winner with a 30% proc and a small radius is a nice story and a mediocre pick for your three slots.
4. What carries over
- Mastery is the part that lasts. See Sprite Mastery: a mastered Sprite stays yours on the account.
- Season end: this is the last big update of Season 4. Season-end collection has what to do before it ends.
- Next: Sprites are a Season 3 feature and Epic has not said they continue. The future of Sprites lays out what we know.
Sprite and variant counts live on the computed pages, not in this article: see all Sprites.
