Loot Hacker Sprites Explained: Every v42.10 Variant, and the Ones Nobody's Confirmed Yet

Loot Hacker is a new Sprite style tier in v42.10, not the Loot Hacks weapon system. Here's the confirmed unlock path, every Sprite that has it, and the icon art nobody outside Quackadex has flagged yet.

Fortnite shipped two things called "Loot Hack" this week and they are not the same thing, which is exactly the kind of naming collision that gets a whole Discord server arguing past each other. Loot Hacks are the Sprite-Dust-gated weapon system - spend Dust, get a Holo Twister or a Wrecker Revolver for a match. Loot Hacker is a Sprite style. Same patch, same week, completely different thing, and Epic named them one letter apart.

Here is what Loot Hacker actually is, which Sprites already have it, and which pieces of it nobody outside Epic has named yet.

What Loot Hacker is

It is a fourth tier bolted onto the existing mastery ladder. Vice's breakdown of the Crown Sprite lays out the exact order: win a match to unlock the base Sprite, win again with it equipped to unlock Cheat Master, win again for Gold, win a fourth time with Gold equipped and Loot Hacker unlocks automatically. Four separate Victory Royales, one Sprite, no shortcuts - mastering it while riding along with someone else's Adventurer Sprite, or picking it up through a trade, does not count toward the chain. Epic apparently heard the complaints about the old requirement (multiple wins per rung) and nerfed it down to one Victory Royale per tier, which is still four clean wins but a lot less brutal than what shipped originally.

That confirmed unlock path is specific to the Crown Sprite. For everything else on this list, Epic has not said whether the same four-win ladder applies, whether it is chest drops, or whether it is Cheat Codes - Vice's own roundup admits as much, noting some in-game descriptions mention "high and mountainous areas" that might just be placeholder text. Assume the Crown method until Epic says otherwise, and don't burn four Victory Royales chasing a different Sprite on a guess.

The nine already in the tracker

These are Sprites Quackadex already lists with Normal, Gold and Cheatmaster forms - Loot Hacker is the newest rung on a ladder that already exists for each of them:

Vice's list also names Loot Hacker versions of Jazz Jackrabbit, Sonic and Shadow - all three already live in the tracker too - but as of this writing their Loot Hacker entries aren't showing on the catalog pages yet. Check back; these things land in waves, not all at once.

The new base Sprites underneath the recolors

Four brand-new Sprite types shipped alongside all those Loot Hacker skins, and three of them have Cheatmaster and Gold forms of their own on top of the glitch variant:

X-Ray Sprite - periodically marks nearby enemies, detection radius grows with level. One of the two Design-a-Sprite contest winners.
Onigiri Sprite - triggers Overdrive after eating or drinking a consumable, longer duration per level. The other contest winner.
Overshield Sprite - grants Overshield, more of it as it levels.
Mega Man Sprite - cuts friction while sliding or swimming, so you slide farther. This is the one worth a double take: the file naming under the hood calls it "Improved Slide," and Epic's own render turns it into a chunky robot with a Mega Man-style helmet - not a subtle reference.

None of these four are in the Quackadex catalog yet. Same story as every other launch-day Sprite: they get tracked once they actually exist in the game files we sync against, not before. Browse the current catalog or check back after today's Sprite reset.

What's still unlabeled

This is where it gets messier than any roundup published so far, because there's icon art circulating for Loot Hacker skins on Sprites that haven't been named publicly at all.

A professor. Round body, oversized purple glasses, lab coat half-buttoned - shown in both Epic images on this page - but nobody, including Epic's own update post, has put a name on it. It isn't X-Ray and it isn't Onigiri; those two are accounted for above. If it's a third Design-a-Sprite winner (the contest had one - the still-unnamed Knight Sprite from the leaks roundup), the art doesn't obviously say "knight" to us. Call this one a genuine open question and don't trust anyone who tells you they know its name today.

A Sonic-family Sprite whose Loot Hacker icon doesn't say which one. Vice's list has separate Loot Hacker entries for Sonic and for Shadow. What's circulating right now is one shared-looking icon, not two - so either one of the pair is still catching up, or they're sharing frame art for now. Worth watching over the next few days rather than assuming either way.

Two Sprites nobody's reported at all. Icon art exists tied to the internal names "Double Jump" and a reload-speed mechanic, and neither shows up in Vice's four-new-base-Sprite list or its fifteen-name Loot Hacker roundup. That puts the real count of new base Sprite types at six, not four - if these two are real and not scrapped concepts. Nothing from Epic confirms either one. Treat this paragraph as a rumor, full stop, and don't plan a farming route around a Sprite that might not ship.

There's also a plain glitch-pink question-mark icon floating around with no Sprite attached to it at all - almost certainly a placeholder frame the UI uses before a specific icon loads, not a Sprite in its own right. Mentioning it mostly so nobody panics that we're hiding a Sprite from this list.

What this means if you're actually playing

If you want a Loot Hacker Sprite this week, Crown is the only one with a confirmed, doable path: four Victory Royales, in order, solo credit only. Everything else on this list is either already-live-but-unconfirmed-method or flatly unreleased, so there's nothing productive to grind for yet outside Crown.

The four new base Sprites (X-Ray, Onigiri, Overshield, Mega Man) aren't trackable here until they're actually in the game files we sync against - that's the same rule that applied to every other Season 4 launch Sprite, John Wick included. None of this changes what happens at the end of the season. Sprites are still a seasonal system, and Mastery is still the part that survives a wipe - once a Sprite hits its mastery pod, that's permanent regardless of what happens to the season around it.

Confirmed vs reported vs rumor, all in one place

Confirmed (Epic's own post, via Vice): the four new base Sprite types and their names/powers, the fifteen-name Loot Hacker list, the Crown Sprite's exact four-win unlock chain.

Reported, not yet independently verified: whether the Crown method applies to any other Loot Hacker Sprite; the unlock method for the rest is explicitly unconfirmed per Vice's own piece.

Rumor: everything in "What's still unlabeled" above - the unnamed professor Sprite, the ambiguous Sonic-family icon, and the two mechanic-named Sprites nobody's reported. None of it is official until Epic says so in a patch note or an update post.
